Voting Creation Care as an Act of Faith

Voting is an important way we people of faith live out our values and influence society for the good of all people and all creation. The 2023 American Climate Metrics Survey found that 85% of Americans agree that we have a moral responsibility to create a safe and healthy climate for ourselves and our children. Voting is one way we take action for justice and righteousness. Learning local, state, and national candidates’ stances and plans on creating a safe and healthy world is our duty as citizens and an important part of making our voting plan.

The 2020 presidential election had the highest voter turnout of the 21st century, with climate a key issue, especially for young people. 2024 is an important election year, one that should be thought about, talked about, and planned for. Leading on our faith includes educating and encouraging others around us to do the same.

Voting for candidates who will work for a thriving and safe future and allocating our tax money in ways that support creation honors our faith. Not voting affects the outcome of each election, but does not honor God. Let us all be the change we hope to see in the world by being informed and active in the election process and helping at least 10 others do the same.
