African Methodist Episcopal Church

The African Methodist Episcopal Chruch has played an active role in navigating social issues since its establishment in 1816. Ministering to the ‘spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and environmental needs of all people by spreading Christ’s liberating gospel through word and deed,’ AME’s leadership has helped foster climate solutions among its nearly 300 churches, with 33 Bishops managing an estimated membership of over 7,500,00. The AME Bishops of the Church have become a foundational component of spiritual council to Presidential Administrations and The White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.
