Marybeth Lorbiecki
Marybeth Lorbiecki, M.A, is an author who doesn't fit neatly in any box. She specializes in adult biographies and children's fiction that explore people's relationships to the land (earth) and each other. She's written about St John Paul II's and Scripture's teachings on creation care, Ohiyesa (Dr. Charles Alexander Eastman), Aldo Leopold and his family, and most recently, Larry Gibson and the movement based on Kayford Mt, WV, against mountaintop removal coal mining. She has served as a consultant for the Vatican on ecology for UN conferences and ocean ethics. Her book Following St. Francis: John Paul II's Call for Ecological Action provided base research for the encyclicals Laudato Si and Fratelli Tutti. As a member of the National Religious Coalition on Creation Care (NRCCC), and working with the Franciscan Action Network, she oversaw the NRCCC's Interfaith Ocean program and website. She is currently working on a book of essays, Healing Christianity.
