Support growers in your community by serving local and seasonal food at congregation events and at home. Consider setting up a shared-CSA (community supported agriculture) membership for your congregation or encourage members to visit the local farmer's market. Purchasing local food reduces emissions from transporting food across the globe, strengthens the local economy, and benefits health by eating fresh, unprocessed fruits and vegetable. Additionally, locally grown food is often cheaper when it is in season. Go one step further by having food delivered to cut down on emissions from a personal trip. Check with your local CSA and food co-op to see if they deliver.
As a faith leader, you can help inspire your congregation to care for God's creation.
